An Angel with a question
Contributed by Bill Faith

Laurie has a question for anyone who's spent time in Iraq or Afghanistan in the last few months or stays in close contact with someone who's there. Please stop by and see if you know the answer.

Calling All Angels -
Help Our Wounded Stay in Touch with their Families

Contributed by Bill Faith

From Blackfive:

The call is out.

We need 25 laptops (we have 25 wounded troops requesting them that are Wait-Listed RIGHT NOW) with voice recognition software for our wounded troops to stay in touch with their family and friends.

Most of these troops either have severe burns or wounds to their limbs or have been paralyzed and can't use a standard computer set up. Communication with loved ones is paramount to a successful recovery and Valour-IT seeks to help facilitate that essential communication.

Be a Small Sphere of InfluencePlease help Valour-It with a donation.

I've never made any secret of the fact that Soldiers' Angels and Project Valour-IT are two of my favorite causes. (Click that picture and look whose idea it was. Check out our sidebar links.) Nothing's changed, people. Give till it hurts. And then some.

"My Daddy Fights Bad Guys"
Contributed by Bill Faith

Today I took my mom shopping in town and I saw an SUV with the words "pray for my daddy in Iraq" I looked at the plates and they were from Oklahoma.

I waited for them to get out of the vehicle to tell them that I will pray for their daddy. A woman with two fantastic beautiful little girls age about 3 and 2 got out with their mom. The girls almost looked like twins. I helped them get into the store and get a buggy and I said is your daddy in Iraq? The oldest girl said oh yea my daddy went over there to fight the bad guys.

At that point I was holding back tears. I told her that her daddy must be a very brave man. And she gave me the biggest smile and said he sure is.

I looked up at the mom and she saw me fighting back tears. I asked the little girl if I could give her a hug that her daddy told me to give her. She came right over and held those little arms around me so tight.

She said do you know my daddy, I said yes I do know your daddy very well. ...

READ IT. Damn! Just damn!

"I have a flag that was flown in Afghan for you."
Contributed by Bill Faith

I haven't said nearly enough about Soldiers' Angels lately; I simply don't have the words to express my admiration for what they do. Angels do truly walk this earth. Don't miss Willie's post here. Awesome.

Of Patriots, Angels and Big Bad Bikers
Contributed by Bill Faith

Laurie, Soldiers' Angels New York

What I have found is that it does not get easier with each passing mission I attend with the Patriot Guard Riders. Friday I drove 2 hours to stand shoulder to shoulder with other patriots. Many who are members of PGR, some new members of PGR of just a day who had read about us in the previous days' news. Many people from Bradford and surrounding areas came out and stood with us as well.

It was a gorgeous summer day in the northeast, I thought about this man as I drove through the green hills and valleys, past freshly mown hay fields, and yes, even amber waves of grain. I thought about the freedoms we enjoy here that at times we even take for granted. The freedoms that men like Thom fought and died for.

As I mentioned in my previous post, the uninvited guests did show up there. I did not personally witness any of that, by the time I arrived there was already a large number of patriots on line doing what they do. I found a friend from a previous mission and stood on line with her. Someone who was helping with the service brought the guest book around to each and every one of us on the line. The page I glimpsed had people from several states and Canada. I would hazard to guess that each of them felt as I do, that a tank of gas and a few hours of my time is the least I can do.

[Read on here.]

I've only been on one Patriot Guard Riders mission so far -- I won't be able to again till it cools off -- but it touched me deeply. Rurik and 1stCav tell me the missions they took part in affected them the same way. You don't have to be a biker, or a veteran, or anything else special to join PGR. Won't you consider joining and being someone special?

"Help Soldier's Angels Help The Wounded"
Contributed by Bill Faith

That's a damned fine idea every day, but right now especially. Laughing Wolf explains.

Sometimes when I stop and think about it I realize just how much it pisses me off that organizations like Soldiers' Angels and Valour-IT are even needed. Why in Hell can't the government that sends our warriors off to war take proper care of them when they're hurt and need it?
