VA Increases Travel Reimbursement for Eligible Veterans
Contributed by Bill Faith Thank you Russ Vaughn for emailing me about this. Shame on me for not getting it posted sooner VA Increases Travel Reimbursement for Eligible Veterans In a nutshell, the VA will now reimburse you 28.5 cents per mile, up from 11 cents, for travel to a VA medical facility for medical care. At the 11 cent mark I didn't consider the amount I could be reimbursed for a trip to Evansville worth the bother to collect; it requires a stop at the cashier's office, which isn't in the same building as most of my appointments. Under the new rates I received more than enough to pay for the gas there and back last week. Ignoring wear and tear on my car, I can now actually turn a profit on trips to the medical facilities I have to go to. With trips to Marion and St Louis coming up in the foreseeable future the increase will seem even more important to me. |
