Some Thoughts On Fred!'s Lincoln Club Speech I'm not sure if C-Span had problems at the last or if I did something wrong but I managed to watch almost all of Fred Thompson's speech at The Lincoln Club. He kinda sorta followed the prepared remarks posted but they don't begin to do justice to his podium persona. He's not quite Reagan's equal as a communicator but he's the closest I've seen in a lot of years and he said all the right things. btw, I just bookmarked on ABC's web site and spent some time in the archives. How about if you do the same? Fred! '08! Fred! '08! Fred! '08! *** , watch some short excerpts from Sen. Thompson's speech at . *** *** Update: Watch the whole speech (Hat tip: bnelson44 in PL Forum thread) It's just over a half hour long so you might still want to watch the excerpt if you're pressed for time. *** Better yet, watch that clip here then go watch and .

Contributed by Bill Faith on May 5, 2007 at 04:01 PM in , | Comments Posted by: Fight4TheRight I like Fred a lot. I do have concerns about what seemed a rather lackluster stint of his in the Senate and his appeal to women and minorities. This is going to be a darn tough election for me. I have seen most of Fred's positions and they certainly match mine more than any other candidate other than perhaps Duncan Hunter. But the 2008 Presidential election - it's so bloody important. In my opinion, if a Dem (meaning either Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, or Al Gore) is elected...I honestly see very real and very immediate troubles for our Country - so much so I believe we could see a collapse here. So, I find myself this time around, willing to bend...to put some of my implicit core values on the back burner, to ensure a victory in '08. I disagree with much about Giuliani and McCain but if Thompson goes against Clinton and will lose, then I want Giuliani, McCain, Romney...whoever. '08 will define this country, in my view, more than any other Presidential election other than perhaps that of Lincoln, Truman, and Reagan. Posted by: Fight4TheRight | May 5, 2007 6:47:19 PM |
