My new toy's on the way!
Contributed by Bill Faith

It may not matter to too many of you but I have to share my good news anyway.

A friend who's familiar with my circumstances and wants to help me be the best blogmeister I can possibly be is loaning me a PC until my Social Security comes through and I can get a nicer one. He took it to UPS today and I should be using it by this time next week. It's not the latest and greatest on the market -- his wife "outgrew" it -- but it's about equivalent to the one I've been using and, most importantly, I won't have to timeshare it with anyone.  We'll put it where the computer I'm using now is and move the one I'm using now to roughly the far corner of the house where my nephews can get to it more easily, and I can start sleeping when I want to and blogging when I want to without worrying about allowing computer time for other people. It'll slow me down briefly -- I need to install the latest Windows XP Service Pack, the latest version of Internet Explorer, Norton Antivirus, Zone Alarm and a couple of anti-spyware programs, and try to figure out how to set up a home network to transfer my files off this computer, and before I do that I need to install the DVD drive he's sending separately and the hard drive I brought from Texas when I moved up here -- but when I get done it will all be worth it. I don't need a 50 GHz processor for blogging, just a cable connection and a decent video card, which I'll have, and with my Texas hard drive added to the drive already in the machine I'll have roughly 110 GB of storage space for lots of embarrassing Hillary and Obama pictures. I'm excited. Can you tell?

While I'm in my happy mood, did everyone notice the Ranger Up girl on the sidebar? You can't be a real milblogger without a Ranger Up girl, and I'm even getting paid for putting her there!

OK, Bill, breaks over. Back on your head.
