It's not all that complicated, folks.
John McCain wants to change DC, Barack Obama wants to change America.
One candidate believes in and cares about this country, one doesn't.
It's your vote. Make it count.

Apparently we've become popular enough to need one.

To our readers: The First Amendment to the United States Constitution gives you the right to provide your own soapbox and stand on any street corner in the country saying damned near anything you feel like saying. It does not give you the right to walk into my home uninvited and shit on my carpet. Likewise, you have the right to start your own blog and write damned near anything you want to. You do not have the right to waste my bandwidth on attacks on me, my fellow veterans, our currently serving military personnel, or the nation we risked our lives for and they are currently risking theirs for. I am not a nice man; never pretended to be. Save yourself some time and just don't bother trying.

I've turned on comment moderation. Relevant comments will appear after they've been approved.  I really don't give a rat's ass how many student deferments Dick Cheney had or whether some libtard is capable of understanding that Air National Guard service does not constitute "dodging the draft." Get a KOS diary. Start your own site. You're done polluting mine.

***

Let me try to put this in simpler terms since traffic has picked up enough for the occasional lefty to wander by the site. I'll try not to use any big words.

When you send a letter to the editor of your local paper it may or may not get published. The paper isn't obliged to publish it just because you took time to write it. If you call the editor or one of his top reporters dumb names your  letter probably won't be published. The same goes for letters claiming the world is flat, we've never been to the moon, George Washington was gay, etc.  The fact that you chose to honor my poor little blog with a comment does not obligate me to post it. If I like it I will. If I don't like it but it reflects some thought I probably will anyway. If you try to tell me Bush lied, the Jews blew up the World Trade Center and we need to invite Osama and the Iranians over for afternoon tea you're wasting your time and mine. I'm a Viet Nam combat veteran with a Master's degree in Engineering; I don't need some snotty nosed kid whose  biggest accomplishment in life is saving some Nintendo princess telling me what's wrong with our foreign policy. Don't waste your time and mine trying.

I got real pleasure reading the poem in response to the Arkin blog. My father spent 18 months in Vietnam 1967-1968. He was a LTC in the 101st. The Kerry/Fonda crowd is getting older and they can keep blathering all they want. The next generation was much more politically conservative and my children clearly have a view of morality entirely inconsistent with Kerry/Fonda.

Every September, I recall that is more than half a century (62 years) since I landed at Nagasaki with the 2nd Marine Division in the original occupation of Japan following World War II. This time every year, I have watched and listened to the light-hearted "peaceniks" and their light-headed symbolism-without-substance of ringing bells, flying pigeons, floating candles, and sonorous chanting and I recall again that "Peace is not a cause - it is an effect."

In July, 1945, my fellow 8th RCT Marines [I was a BARman] and I returned to Saipan following the successful conclusion of the Battle of Okinawa. We were issued new equipment and replacements joined each outfit in preparation for our coming amphibious assault on the home islands of Japan.

B-29 bombing had leveled the major cities of Japan, including Kobe, Osaka, Nagoya, Yokohama, Yokosuka, and Tokyo.

We were informed we would land three Marine divisions and six Army divisions, perhaps abreast, with large reserves following us in. It was estimated that it would cost half a million casualties to subdue the Japanese homeland.

In August, the A-bomb was dropped on Hiroshima but the Japanese government refused to surrender. Three days later a second A-bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki. The Imperial Japanese government finally surrendered.

Following the 1941 sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, a Japanese admiral said, "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant..." Indeed, they had. Not surprisingly, the atomic bomb was produced by a free people functioning in a free environment. Not surprisingly because the creative process is a natural human choice-making process and inventiveness occurs most readily where choice-making opportunities abound. America!

Tamper with a giant, indeed! Tyrants, beware: Free men are nature's pit bulls of Liberty! The Japanese learned the hard way what tyrants of any generation should know: Never start a war with a free people - you never know what they may invent!

As a newly assigned member of a U.S. Marine intelligence section, I had a unique opportunity to visit many major cities of Japan, including Tokyo and Hiroshima, within weeks of their destruction. For a full year I observed the beaches, weapons, and troops we would have assaulted had the A-bombs not been dropped. Yes, it would have been very destructive for all, but especially for the people of Japan.

When we landed in Japan, for what came to be the finest and most humane occupation of a defeated enemy in recorded history, it was with great appreciation, thanksgiving, and praise for the atomic bomb team, including the aircrew of the Enola Gay. A half million American homes had been spared the Gold Star flag, including, I'm sure, my own.

Whenever I hear the apologists expressing guilt and shame for A-bombing and ending the war Japan had started (they ignore the cause-effect relation between Pearl Harbor and Nagasaki), I have noted that neither the effete critics nor the puff-adder politicians are among us in the assault landing-craft or the stinking rice paddies of their suggested alternative, "conventional" warfare. Stammering reluctance is obvious and continuous, but they do love to pontificate about the Rights that others, and the Bomb, have bought and preserved for them.

The vanities of ignorance and camouflaged cowardice abound as license for the assertion of virtuous "rights" purchased by the blood of others - those others who have borne the burden and physical expense of Rights whining apologists so casually and self-righteously claim.

At best, these fakers manifest a profound and cryptic ignorance of causal relations, myopic perception, and dull I.Q. At worst, there is a word and description in The Constitution defining those who love the enemy more than they love their own countrymen and their own posterity. Every Yankee Doodle Dandy knows what that word is.

In 1945, America was the only nation in the world with the Bomb and it behaved responsibly and respectfully. It remained so until two among us betrayed it to the Kremlin. Still, this American weapon system has been the prime deterrent to earth's latest model world- tyranny: Seventy years of Soviet collectivist definition, coercion, and domination of individual human beings.

The message is this: Trust Freedom. Remember, tyrants never learn. The restriction of Freedom is the limitation of human choice, and choice is the fulcrum-point of the creative process in human affairs. As earth's choicemaker, it is our human identity on nature's beautiful blue planet and the natural premise of man's free institutions, environments, and respectful relations with one another. Made in the image of our Creator, free men choose, create, and progress - or die.

Free men should not fear the moon-god-crowd oppressor nor choose any of his ways. Recall with a confident Job and a victorious David, "Know ye not that you are in league with the stones of the field?"

Dear Noble Hero,
I posted the following on a Yahoo Group, FriendsofMichelleMalkin, in honor of Veterans Day and it occurs to me that it belongs most where Veterans such as yourself can read it and appreciate it. You are invited to break it up (it was originally 3 posts) or do with it whatever you wish. It is my hope that those of you, my heroes, who fought to defend my freedom, can receive my most heartfelt gratitude, which I have wanted to express for so long.
Thank you.
---Tim Lenox
Meriden, CT, USA

PS --- My father was a Sergeant in the Air Force during the Korean War. His uniform shoulder has a "5 Tech" insignia and his cap has 52 bombs sewn on it (I'm sure you know what these mean). He taught me (by example) to love my country and appreciate the sacrifice and nobility of those who serve in the military. He will always be my hero and my favorite Veteran. Thought you'd like to know.

Posts follow:

Heroes vs Villains

Villains are willing to sacrifice others for themselves.
Heroes are willing to sacrifice themselves for others.

To all those Heroes who:
Fight to Defend us,
Protect and Serve us,
Rush into danger to Rescue us,

Thank you, all Brave and Noble Heroes!

Thank You for our Lives!
Thank You for our Liberty!
Thank You for our Freedom!
Thank You for Everything we have!

We will NEVER forget you!

Thanksgiving and Veterans Day

I remember back in 2002, receiving my first catalog for the Quality Paperback Book Club and seeing the new book, “Stupid White Men” by Michael Moore. Having never heard of him before and thinking this would be a joke book, I went to his website and checked him out. What I found horrified me. It wasn’t just what he was saying and how he was distorting history. The most horrifying aspect was how well this thing was selling in Europe, the former Soviet Union, and damn near every foreign enemy we have ever had. I realized the true impact back then and warned my family, friends, and coworkers:

This is the start of a wave of anti-American sentiment the likes of which we have never seen before. Mark my words now. If you think the hippy movement of the sixties was bad, then prepare yourself for something a hundred times worse. This guy has distorted history and is playing on every single possible prejudice in existence, blaming his own country for all of it. After decades of America being the envy of the world, this guy is now giving the world the opportunity to convert that envy into despising hatred. If nothing is done and nobody says anything, hating America and everything we stand for will be the new fad, not just among the elite, but all over the world. Just watch and see.

Unfortunately, no matter how many badly-distorted “documentaries” he made, nobody did or said anything until he received his Academy Award and made his anti-Bush speech. Then people started slowly waking up to just what was happening. Unfortunately, it was too late and most of the world had adopted this idiot’s viewpoint as gospel. The elites in our country were in full support and many political groups saw their opportunity to use this wave to advance their agenda.

Well, my fellow countrymen, I have had enough!

For the record, in an effort to remind the world of who we are and what America stands for, I am making a list of all the benefits the human race has received because of the United States of America. Our Thanksgiving Day is coming up and we should ALL be thankful for these gifts. I am making this list and posting it as we celebrate Veterans Day for two equally important reasons.

First, we need plenty of time to remember and prepare to say our respective prayers of thanks on Thanksgiving Day.

Second, it is to our Veterans, from the birth of this country to today, that we owe the greatest thanks for these gifts.

Please join me by copying and editing the following list for chronological order and to add what is missing.

Gifts from the United States of America (especially its Veterans) for which the World and the Human Race can be Thankful:

1) Although the Greeks invented Democracy and Parliament gave power to the people, it was the United States of America which gave the world the idea of Free Elections and Government BY the People FOR the People, not by elite families for wealthy merchants.

2) We were the first to promote the idea of Religious Freedom instead of religious suppression by the government.

3) While we were at it, we also promoted Freedom of Speech, outlawing government censorship.

4) We invented the idea of equal opportunity for all people of all classes and social standing.

5) As an encore, we were the first to say that Slavery is Wrong and that ALL men should be free and equal.

6) We continued that thought to be the first to say that Men and Women should be equal with equal opportunities.

7) When all the above started taking too long to be accepted, we started movements and organizations to promote Equal Rights and protect Civil Liberties.

8) We opposed Tyranny and Oppression, at home and abroad, believing that Democracy, Freedom, Liberty, and Equality should be enjoyed by ALL people so that they can prosper.

9) When the rest of the world got out of control and the forces of hatred threatened to reign supreme, we stepped up to lead the Allies to Victory over the forces of genocide.

10) While Nazi Germany fell because it could not fight a World War on two fronts, we not only helped defeat the Axis Powers, but we also defeated the Imperial aggression of Japan BY OURSELVES, proving that we could do what Hitler’s “perfect race” could not: win a war on two fronts.

11) After that terrible war, we were the ones to invent a policy of Helping our defeated foes instead of oppressing them, knowing that a prosperous people would have less incentive to wage war, thus showing the world how to end the cycle of vengeful wars.

12) We taught the world during the Cold War that you CAN win a war by showing restraint and not actually having a war.

13) Time and again, we have championed the cause of the oppressed and promoted the idea of prosperity for all by fighting tyranny, genocide, slavery, religious persecution, and all the evils that megalomaniacs are know for.

14) When natural disasters and tragedies occur, we are the first to rush to the aid of the victims, offering comfort, support, assistance, medicine, supplies, and necessities, thus showing that our respect for all life is not just a slogan.

15) We invented the idea of the United Nations, first as the League of Nations, then as the United Nations, even hosting it on our own soil, and we are STILL waiting for the members of the United Nations to get the freaking idea!

Just wanted to share another sentiment with you.

I have formed the following belief:

With our ever-expanding population, it is inevitable that Heaven would run out of Guardian Angels.
Therefore, those Heroes who serve with Honor are offered a promotion when their time here is done.

Rank is assigned not according to rank achieved in life,
but according to the level of sacrifice given (life, limb, etc.)

When I am blessed enough to have children (hopefully), and they tell me how worried they are about the monster under the bed or hiding in the closet, I will tell them this belief. I will explain to them the difference between Hero and Villain and how the forces of evil get the worst and most cowardly while the forces of good get the best and bravest.

I will explain all this so that my children will know the caliber of the Guardian Angels standing watch over them.

Then I will tell them, "That's why the monsters are hiding."

To all those who have served our country:

For decades, I have always looked up to you as heroes. You represent the best of us simply by stepping up and, in the paraphrased words of Robert Heinlein, making the safety of our nation your personal responsibility.

There are many of us who never served, for one reason or another, some good, some not so much. Many of us envy you the honor and integrity that you displayed simply by doing what you saw as your duty. Some of us have realized that it is far too late to follow in your footsteps and we will never know what it is like to be you. We simply wish to find a way to thank you for doing what we did not or could not and might never have a chance of doing.

For myself, I latched onto an idea I saw years ago on one of those rare episodes of 7th Heaven which I actually watched. A young boy, upon meeting a veteran (played by Ernest Borgnine) said, "Thank you for serving" and saw gratitude at the recognition of that service. Since then, I tried to express my gratitude to all of you to whom I owe my Freedom, my Liberty, and everything I hold dear.

Unfortunately, I have found, on several occassions, that this sentiment was not well received. Noble warriors like yourselves seem to not want that recogntion for simply doing the right thing. Thus, I am at a point where I am unsure what to do or say to those whom I admire.

When I thank you, it is not just you that I thank. It is every man and woman that has ever stepped forward to defend this nation that I love and I admire every one of you for doing so. I am at a loss to be able to express this gratitude, especially since there are so many that I will never be able to thank until I finally leave this world because they never made it back. I only hope I am allowed to visit them briefly before heading to my destination, since I believe they have a special place for which I will not have clearance.

If you are uncomfortable receiving gratitude meant not only for you but for all those you served with, all those who came before you, and all those who follow your example, then please accept my deepest apologies. After everything that has happened, the last thing I want to do is cause any of you any discomfort. So, if anyone can enlighten me, I would appreciate knowing how a grateful civilian can express the feelings of a grateful nation.

We see and are disgusted by the still ongoing insults from those who would break down in blind panic if removed from their precious luxuries, let alone have to face an actual battlefield. We seek to counter their ignorant rants with messages of support and gratitude, hoping to drown out the ingrates.

Unfortunately, it seems that our heartfelt thanks has been added to the latest fads and is now being received as a trivialization rather that the true sentiments we feel. Thus, I now ask you, anyone who wishes to reply:

How can I best thank you for all you went through to preserve this great nation and all the freedoms I enjoy which others take for granted?

What can I say when I meet one of you that lets you know that there are those you fought for who appreciate your efforts?

How can a civilian express gratitude in a chance encounter without unknowingly cause insult?

For now, the only thing I can think of is to post what I have above, in this and the previous posts, and hope that veterans read it to know they are sincerely appreciated.

Other than that, I have now been called to serve my country in another way.

It happened in May, the night before my 43rd birthday, two months after receiving notice that I am past the maximum age for any branch of the military. I think my health problems would still list me as 4F (if that is still the term used in the rating system), but the age limit means that healing would still not allow me to serve.

Thus, I was honored and humbled when four Republican Town Committees asked me to be the Republican Candidate for State Senate. I may never be able to serve my country the way you all have, but I can devote whatever is left of my life to serving this country by giving the government back to the people and fighting in the legislature to preserve the country all of you have fought for. I pray the atronauts' prayer constantly.

In the meantime, if anyone can tell me what to say to each hero I meet that will not sound contrite and meaningless, my mind is wide open and I would appreciate knowing how to thank you.

In complete sincerity,
Tim Lenox, Republican Candidate,
13th State Senate District of CT

Tim,

Bless you for wanting to serve our country in politics. I never had the stomach for it after the 60's.

In an earlier post here you stated that you thought God was running our of Guardian Angels. And that it would be a promotion for our fallen heros to become Angels.

The fact is that God created the angels to look after us as his servants. They are our servants too since we are His sons and daughters. When you pray for one of his Angels to guard over you, He hears and if you are sincere in your heart, it's a done deal. I know.

I spent many nights talking to my Lord and my personal Angel at Da Nang. I had many close calls, but got through it all with my life, my health, and my faith intact. My Angel did it's master's bidding.

That Angel and I still talk at times when my life is in danger. The worst was when I had a heart attack a few years ago and thought I was going to die. I knew I would be all right when I felt my Angel right there.

DO THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA NEED A LAWYER? My Representative did not do what we asked, did yours? WE WERE ATTACKED WITHIN--BY A PROUD WIFE OF A vIETNAM vET gRUNT--SERVED WITH 1ST dIV, 2NDBN 16TH INF RANGERS C CO 65-66
RE:
Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008
10/03/2008 --
Bill Number: H.R.1424

I oppose the economic recovery bill, the idea of it as well as the details because this has been put into motion against the will of the people.
There was not enough consent of the people. We have experienced deliberate domestic terrorism with threats and lies.
THERE WAS NO PROFESSIONAL IMMEDIATE ACCOUNTABILITY AT ALL.
ACCORDING TO THE GOVERNMENT I LEARNED IN COLLEGE THERE ARE 3 BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT. I DEMAND AN APPEAL OF THIS FRAUDULENT BILL TO BE CHALLENGED BY WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES AGAINST THE HOUSE, CONGRESS, AND PRESIDENT. BY OUR HONORABLE JUDGES OF OUR SUPREME COURT.
THIS DELIBERATE CROOKED POLITICAL STUNT TO BENEFIT POLITICAL LEADERS AS WELL AS THEIR FRIENDS AND TO FINANCE ELECTION FRAUDS. IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL. IS EXTORTION BY THEIR VENOMOUS THREATS.
150 BILLION OF EXTRA ADDITIVES TO BUY VOTES, TO BLACKMAIL SOME OF THE HIGHEST PEOPLE IN OUR DEMOCRACY AND TO SUCCEED IS A FEDERAL CRIME AND NO ONE NOT EVEN THE PRESIDENT IS ABOVE THE LAW.
Today I as a citizen of the United States of America deliberately was stolen from as well as my family and every citizen of the United States from the youngest to the oldest.
TODAY ALL AMERICANS WERE STOLEN FROM AGAINST OUR WILL BY INDIVIDUALS WHO SERVE IN POSITIONS OF PUBLIC TRUST. WE TOOK AS AMERICANS A FULL DOMESTIC TERRORISM ATTACK FROM WITHIN..
PEOPLE WHOSE DUTY IS TO SERVE THE NATIONAL INTEREST ACCORDING TO ETHICS AND ACCORDING TO THE HIGHEST LAWS OF OUR GREAT DEMOCRACY.
The law that the Senate, House and President signed needs to be immediately moved into a sort of stay or appeal until this is investigated by our highest law authorities due to the fact that there is no accountability. The people have set forth many requests for this but do to the fact that many of the employees that we sent to our legislative and executive branches feel they know what's best and we don't matter. This has been demonstrated by many accusations by many of these public officials and by many media outlets.
Ours news media and politicians have done one of the worst crimes to every human being who lives in this great country due to political bias.
This is wrong!! They should have been doing investigative journalism instead of being politically biased ,
We out here are not really Dems or Reps we are Americans.
In the past few weeks leading up to today's event we have watched the media such as TV, Radio, Newspapers and magazines be the most sexist, racist to a point of deliberate hate crimes toward the People of the United States due to the fact we are not the right caliber in their minds. And being entrenched toward Ms Palin, they have not only been slanderous toward the people of the United States but of the women of this great country. I have watched too many men go on and on saying its alright to do and say and act chauvinistic whether for or against a woman candidate which doesn’t just offend some women but all women. I saw this with Ms Hillary, Ms Palin, as well as with the media deliberately being sexist against any other woman in the United States who isn’t in the Elite High class Wealth Circles AND WE HAVE TO WORK LIKE SLAVES TO BAIL THEM OUT NO. I AM NOT AND I WILL NOT BE A SLAVE NOR WILL MY HUSBAND, NOR MY CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN IS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. LAND OF THE FREE HOME OF THE BRAVE. NOT LAND OF THE ELITE.
Anyone in America even with the smallest of ideas to the biggest can truly see the intimidation, political bias, negligence, sexism, socialism, dictatorship, irresponsible, discriminatory, reckless, sarcasm, slanderous, elitism, tyranny and shunning of the opinions of almost all Americans. The Media and Politicians have even shunned our opinions due to our economic and educational status as well as political party, ethnic backgrounds, religion, gender, social status, and even to a point of trying to silence us and threaten us with poverty, Armageddon, fear and intimidation if we the people would not agree with those wanting to pass a law that affects our monies and pays them. AGAINST OUR WILL. WE HAVE BEEN RAPED AND VIOLATED!!!
THIS IS NOT WHAT THE CONSTITUTION IS FOR. THIS IS CRIMES AND INTIMIDATION AS WELL AS SUPRESSION AGAINST HUMANITY AND OUR WELL BEING AS CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES. EXTORTION BY THEIR VENOMOUS THREATS
Conflicted interest and step downs needed for unethical domestic treason--Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Chris Dodd, Charlie Rangel, Barney Franks, George Bush, Paulson, Cox--IMMEDIATE IMPEACHMENT and any other congressman or senator who changed their mind for the BLACKMAIL AND BRIBERY--THE FBI AND UNITED STATES MARSHALL'S NEED TO COME AND ARREST YOU ALL--THIS IS CALLED DOMESTIC TERRORISM, TRYANNY--YOU PEOPLE UP THERE IN DC NEED TO MAKE THIS RIGHT IMMEDIATELY OR THE PEOPLE HAVE THE RIGHT AS OUR CONSTITUTION STATES TO REMOVE ALL OF YOU..OUR GOVERNMENT IS ACCOUNTABLE TO US!!
THERE ARE PLENTY OF GOOD, TRUSTWORTHY PEOPLE OUT HERE THAT CAN USE A JOB. AND THEY DO LOVE THIS COUNTRY ENOUGH NOT TO JUST STEAL FROM HER BUT FROM ALL OF THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

My husband and I just spent nearly the last hour searching the web for A soldiers night before christmas in audio. We finally found it on your page. We sat quietly and listened, both teary eyed as we thought of all the wonderful men and women out there fighting for us and everyone else here with our families, safe in our homes. And I just wanted to say thankyou. Thank you sir for being one of them, and having this web site. Thank you to your brave family, who probably spent christmas's praying for your safety. And thankyou to all the others still fighting and diligently working for our continued freedom, and to all those praying for their safe return. Many of us feel the way I do, don't let the ignorance of some who enjoy this freedom without thanks get to you. My family and I, and many others here pray thanks and safety for all of you daily. We will never forget. Merry Christmas, and God bless you all.
