Please join me in saying G'day to our newest Dog
Contributed by Bill Faith

Remember when I posted In A Poetry Mood I told you I had my reasons for picking that particular poem but I couldn't tell you yet? Please join me in welcoming Anthony W. Paul to the Old War Dogs pack. I'm in the middle of trying to track down some template problems that may make the site not look right under some conditions and I'm anxious to get Tony started posting so I've deviated from my normal procedures and given him a key to the site without adding his bio to the "Who Are We?" post first; I promise to do that soon. In the mean time, here's a snippet from a short-short bio he gave us earlier:

I'm a 20+ year veteran of the Royal Australian Air Force and served in Vietnam as a chopper gunner with 9 Squadron from June 1969 to June 1970.

Now retired, I'm a poet, and the creator and webmaster of the International War Veterans Poetry Archives (IWVPA), a website dedicated to all who have and are serving their country, and which displays war/veteran related writings (poetry, short stories, articles etc.) written by veterans, their families, friends, and supporters. From experience I know that writing is cathartic... and sharing those writings with others is even more so. From them, each of us learns that we are not alone in our thoughts, pains, and experiences.

Do check out Tony's site when you can; you can get lost there for hours. I have, and I know he'll be a wonderful addition to our team here.

G'day Tony,

I'm sure you will demonstrate that even dogs have souls. I'm looking forward to your contributions. -TGD

Welcome aboard Tony. How's the weather down there? Any political clouds we should know about?

I won't go into detail now, but I think we're all dealing with the same weather patterns here, and that it doesn't have anything to do with Al Gore or global warming. We're all in the same boat.

I like that concept.......

Tony, good to have you with us. Strange how things work out isn't it? I don't even remember now how you came to begin posting my doggerel but I thank you again for doing it. When your name came up as a possible dog, I was immediately for it although I fear you may find these Dogs a bit crankier than the poets with whose writings your website is filled. You will find our instincts are sometimes more akin to junkyard dogs, but then that's a good thing if you can handle it.

After all, wars aren't won by poodles.

Again, glad to have you with us.

Russ
