John O'Neill: Don't Repeat Mistake of 1974
Contributed by Bill Faith

Russ Vaughn emailed and asked me to make sure everyone knew about this:

Don't Repeat Mistake of 1974

In early 1973, the Dow approached new highs in a booming economy. In the 1972 election, the new left was rejected in almost every state. The Paris Peace Treaty was concluded with North Vietnam memorializing its pledge not to interfere militarily in the affairs of South Vietnam. The nation was prosperous and at peace.

Heh!
I spent several hours on a post that said much the same as John O'Neill without having seen this. I deleted the post before publishing out of frustration. I'm pleased that I did and that Russ found this.

Trivial crap aside, thank you Russ and Bill!!! It's a message that most will likely ignore, but important anyway.

We joke a lot about "None of the above" being our first choice, but this is real life. None of us has ever agreed completely with another human being, much less a political candidate, so we cannot expect that during this election cycle we will suddenly find candidates with whom we finally agree on everything. What we will do instead is cast our votes, as we always do, for those candidates who most nearly share our values, morals, ideas, hot button issues, or whatever other scale we use to judge who would best represent our views.
