George Cloony’s Top Dozen Reasons Why American Intervention in Darfur is a Great Idea
Contributed by George Mellinger 12. Name is exotic but easy to pronounce. 11. American troops guaranteed to bring back exotic new diseases for which actors can conduct telethons. 10. No risk of any White person benefitting from operation. 9. Will allow Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame to get back into the news cycle. 8. Almost certain to involve American casualties for network news to count. 7. High likelihood of getting US forces into an unwinnable quagmire. 6. Since both sides are Muslim, it guarantees that America can be found to have chosen the wrong side. 5. When operation fails, result will be some trendy new ethnic restaurants in Georgetown. 4. Demonstrates deep concern for Black people without actually having to let any move into my neighborhood. 3. When US troops shoot shoot some Black opponents, it will demonstrate George Bush’s inherent racism. 2. Will keep US troops busy and unavailable for use against good guys like terrorists or illegal aliens. 1. Absolutely no possible benefit to any US interest. -Rurik I originally posrted an earlier version of this some while back. However, since i now hear a growing drumbeat to get us involved in another notawar, I think its time to update and repost. |

Trouble with the Hollywood types is that they think a good script will solve everthing. Posted by: OWB | Oct 9, 2006 8:37:09 PM Posted by: GI Zhou I agree with you George 110 percent. This is like the logistic problems of the Rawanda Genocide. Are Mums and dads prepared to go to some sh..hole in Africa and rescue one group at the expense of another in an internal conflict. The Sudanese governemnt, with Chinese assistance is arming the rebels, so what do we do ie the forces of good. Divert precious C-17 missions from critical missions or just bomb the crap out of the Sudanese government. Like that will work. My thoughts anyway. Arm the African peacekeepers with top line equipment and send them nack in with a bigger pay packet. It is damn cheaper than our than sending Western forces.
