Fox News says The worked at a hospital for mothers and children. Her bodyguard and another hospital worker were also murdered.
Animals. Cowards. Barbarians.
Watch as everyone strains to say this hate slaying has nothing to do with jihad and it was "not clear it had anything to do" with Muslim rage over the Pope ...

In what could only be described as a depressingly predictable escalation, Somalian Islamists in the back three times, killing the woman who had served as a nurse to Mogadishu's poverty-stricken people. It came as Pope Benedict XVI for using inflammatory language while Muslim activists and leaders around the world proclaimed it insufficient:
An Italian nun was shot dead at a hospital by Somali gunmen Sunday, hours after a leading Muslim cleric condemned Pope Benedict XVI for his remarks on Islam and violence.

News agencies around the world have tripped over themselves to emphasize that any connection between this cowardly murder by so-called men and the lunatic anger gripping Muslim hordes around the world over one sentence in a speech given earlier this week is somehow "unclear". Well, let's see ...

Now the he's "deeply sorry" that he offended Muslims. Meanwhile, no Muslim leader has been reported apologizing, or even expressing regret over, the . Witnesses to the murder say it "appeared to be linked" to Muslim hysteria over the Pope's speech; those witnesses spoke "on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals." Reprisals? From members of the Religion of Peace? Why on earth would they be worried about reprisals?
The Pope has nothing to apologize for, and the last thing he should do is chase after Muslim spokesman with an ever-more-abject series of apologies. They can't be satisfied, and more apologies just give them the opportunity to utter absurdities like this one: ...

So the Pope once again, saying that the words spoken in the 15th Century that he quoted in his speech was not how HE felt:
Pope Benedict XVI said Sunday that he was “deeply sorry” about the angry reaction to his recent remarks about Islam, which he said came from a text that did not reflect his personal opinion.
Despite the statement, protests and violence persisted across the Muslim world, ...

Just like the previous apology made through the Vatican's Secretary of State, , made during his Sunday blessing, was more about placating the outraged Muslims than expressing sincere regret for what he actually said.
Pope Benedict XVI has apologised in person for causing offence to Muslims in a speech in Bavaria last week.
He said the medieval text which he quoted did not express in any way his personal opinion, adding the speech was an invitation to respectful dialogue. ...

Two more cases of jihadists threatening free speech and countries have come up this week. First, there is the Islamic world's violent (surprise surprise) reaction to Pope Benedict's . .

The worry meter remains at , but I’m obliged to follow up on that earlier post. Via via via , Pakistani journalist Hamir Mir says the end is nigh:
“We have a different plan for the next attack,” [AQ Afghan commander Abu Dawood] told Mir. “You will see. Americans will hardly find out any Muslim names, after the next attack. Most of our brothers are living in Western countries, with Jewish and Christian names, with passports of Western countries. This time, someone with the name of Mohamed Atta will not attack inside America, it would be some David, Richard or Peter.”
He said there will be another audio message from bin Laden aired within the next two weeks.

To His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI:
I went to church angry today for the first time in quite a while, perhaps since 9/11. We are called to humble ourselves when we worship God, and while I'm far from being the world's best example of Catholocism, I usually prepare myself by recalling my sins and my flaws before Mass begins -- not usually a difficult task, I'm afraid to say.
Unfortunately, today my anger got the best of me, and I struggled through an otherwise excellent service by our pastor.
Why should this be so? Before I went to Mass, I read about the senseless murder of Sister Leonella Sgorbati, ...

A third priest may now have become a victim of the violence and lawlessness in Baghdad. Father Basil Salem Yaldo was last seen leaving a church building in the Dora area of Baghdad. He is the personal secretary to the Catholic Patriarch for Iraq. At the time of his disappearance, a car bomb had exploded in the vicinity and a round-up of suspects took place by Iraqi and Coalition Security Forces. It is not known if Father Basil was taken into custody, is being held for ransom, or worse.
The first priest to be abducted was forced to leave the country after being brutalized and then released. The second is still being treated for injuries suffered during weeks of physical and mental abuse. He was released only after a series of ransoms were paid.
