(MP3 MP4) James Hooker: The Canyons I Knew Well Contributed by Bill Faith
"The Canyons I Knew Well"
Writen and recorded 9 September, 2006
God bless this old bag of bones I love deli smells and the tongues of foreign émigré's ring in canyons I've known well
God bless this old bag of bones I remember how they shined From an avenue these bones looked up And thought they would stand through time

5 years ago, I wanted to write a song about that day. I couldn't do it. This year, on the eighth of this month, it came to me in huge waves of thought and images and I've been going around the clock since then to get it finished. "The Canyons I Knew Well", is from a New Yorker who is not a native New Yorker...not even FROM New York. I say this because, since the mid-sixties, my profession has found me in NYC many times every year and I do not recall EVER saying "Oh Jesus, I gotta go to New York in the morning." I always visited gladly and worked well there, and I hope this song reflects that. I am busy now putting finishing touches on an mpeg4 version of the song to upload tonight. This has been the hardest part - the images I've gleaned off the internet to add to the music has been difficult to take - again!..but I think it'll be worth it.
You guys and dolls have been kind to me in the past, and if you would, please consider rolling the dice with me again.

I understand from James that he's editing like crazy trying to get a video up to go with the MP3. Watch for it.

Again, a buncha thanks. I got all 22 or so megs up - ON DIAL-UP! Sheesh, I GOTTA get the sat guy out here! Done around 5 this AM in Ireland. You're the first email and I'm now preparing a Vulcan/12 Ga. email to go out to everybody and his dog. I'll probably be labled a spammer by this afternoon. Let me know if there's any problems with the file. Seems to work well with Quicktime and Realplayer - a little quality loss, but they're not 1.5 GIGS long either! Don't have software or brainpower to get it on WMV and such yet - been thinking about looking into Flash - we'll see.

It's a big download, but worth it. Full disclosure: The speakers attached to this computer died a couple of days ago (at least I hope that's it) and I can't afford new ones right now (ref: ). The slide show's beautiful and James never recorded anything in his life that didn't sound good. Check it out.
