It's a small world after all
Contributed by Zero Ponsdorf Not so sure this is an OWD subject, but it's so dang intriguing I have to mention it, or maybe the 'simple pleasures for simple minds' adage is at play. Last night around midnight eastern I'm gmail chatting with an Army guy in Ramadi, Iraq. He mentions that he's calling his wife, who is in Texas. I say bye and ask that he tells her 'hey' from me. His last message was "She says hi." Maybe it's just me, but that seems pretty neat. No names here since I didn't discuss this little post with them. Wasn't that long ago that letters, the occasional MARS call, or a payphone was it. I know that this difference has been mentioned ad naseum elsewhere, but this is the first time it happened TO ME. |
