Well, ought to be interesting. If it were up to me, he wouldn't have a country to go back to. BTW Bush is scheduled to speak the same day.

W steps on the national crank ... Umm, er, uh maybe not
I relearned an important lesson today about checking things with reliable sources before believing them just because they were "on the news." I listened to a radio newscast on the way home from having my car repaired diagnosed this afternoon. Then I came home and accused George Bush of "stepping on the national crank" before I'd spent any time surfing the net to get the real story. Dog my age should know better.
Realized just barely in time to get there almost legally that I had a 1:30 appointment 30 miles from here to get some warranty work done on my car. Finished a good book and started on another while I waited. Need to take time to re-read a couple more times (Damn, George! You done good, Dog!), answer some emails, and catch up on the news. I'll get some updates added to this post eventually.

Did I mention that driving and sitting around in customer lounges are two thing that wear this old dog out? On top of that, my internet connection rolled craps and I it took me twenty minutes to get back online. There are definitely some things I want to blog about -- If the initial reports I've seenheard (in the car; haven't had time to check the blogs yet) are accurate George Bush stepped on the national crank while I was away from the computer -- but they're going to have to wait till I've had a little catnap. Cat?! Who said "cat"?! Later.

Fox again, a few minutes ago. So much for my . And so much for the tepid optimism I was planning to express about in the Times of London, which describes the deal between Pakistan and the tribesmen as contingent upon their expelling “foreign fighters” — something they obviously won’t do, and which would have/could have been used as a pretext for letting U.S. troops target AQ hideouts in the region.

Bill Roggio is about Pakistan's deal with the taliban. I realize Bill is on the ground there but I don't accept his analysis. Not that he's wrong, but when you take into account the politics of the region, it doesn't add up.
The news of the Pakistani government signing a truce agreement with the Taliban in North Waziristan is far worse than being reported. We raised the alarm early morning on September 4, and newly uncovered information on the terms of the agreement indicate Pakistan has been roundly defeated by the Taliban in North Waziristan.

What cost does freedom really bring, when life is high and full of spring. What courage is to count the cost, when neither time nor youth is lost? It lies within a time gone by when those who stood knew some would die. What cost does freedom really bring, it lies upon those souls who sing.

In , we fretted that the continued defiance of leftist loser Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and his announced refusal to accept his defeat -- even now that it hasbeen by Mexico's Federal Electoral Tribunal, the "top electoral court" -- has the potential to develop into an outright civil war.

My respect for Massachsetts Gov. Mitt Romney just increased greatly. He is refusing to pay for security for Iran's former President Mohammad Khatami. I have said before that Khatami should not have been issued a visa and he should not have been allowed into the United States. Period. There is much opposition to Khatami's presence here in the US by Harvard students and others. Khatami will continue to have security supplied by the federal government and paid for by YOU, the taxpayers. ...

The trackback worked. Sometimes it appears that a trackback has not been sent, when actually it has been. TypePad does that all the time, or it may send duplicate trackbacks. Technology, go figure!
