It's not all that complicated, folks.
John McCain wants to change DC, Barack Obama wants to change America.
One candidate believes in and cares about this country, one doesn't.
It's your vote. Make it count.

Video: Olbermann donates to Clinton’s charity — on camera

Who thinks it’s a good idea to videotape his charitable acts and air them on his television show?

A smug, shameless douche with a pathological need for approval, that’s who.

You won’t believe what I’m about to tell you, but the on-camera donation isn’t the most repulsive part of this clip. ...

Grim milestone alert: War deaths surpass deaths on 9/11

Yes, they actually use the words “grim” and “milestone.” But not together. They’re separated by a few paragraphs, presumably because even the AP can’t bear the cliche any longer.

I expect the author’s had this story ready to go for the past two or three weeks, and has just been making tally marks in his notebook each day as the KIA reports roll in. “Three more to go, two, one… RUN IT.” ...

California to give
presidential electoral votes to popular-vote winner?

Call it “the Gore rule.” Also call it stupid. Blue states shouldn’t be signing away their prerogative to vote blue unless and until (a) they’ve gotten swing states to follow suit, or (b) they’re sure enough that American demography is trending Democratic long-term (which may well be the case given the  increasing Hispanic population) that they’re willing to risk bad short-term results to exploit that. ...

Democrats accuse Steele of ‘political identity theft’

More SDS (Steele Derangement Syndrome):

No, Maryland voters, the printer did not make an error. Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele’s new campaign signs seem to identify him as a Democrat. ...

Video: Reuters CEO suspects fauxtography is widespread

Not at Reuters. Everywhere.

The report claims they’re working on getting hoax-detection software to detect manipulated images. Um…

Vlog 2.0: Brit bloggers launch their own Internet TV network

It sounds like what everyone initially thought Pajamas was going to be — they’re giving away 100 camcorders so “citizen journalists” around the world can shoot clips, file stories, etc. They’ve also lined up a pair of popular UK bloggers to host their shows: ...

CBS gives free speech
to illegal alien on Couric’s freeSpeech segment

“Carlos”, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala, was featured on last night’s segment of CBS Evening News’ freeSpeech. Here is how he describes himself:

I ended up graduating 5th in my high school class and have since graduated college and I hope to become a lawyer. But because I am undocumented, I could never get a license to practice law and that puts me in a state of limbo. I’ve grown up here and I feel American - I just lack the piece of paper that validates it.

This is the third night in a row that a liberal opinion was expressed and the second time that an open borders view was shown unopposed. CBS has yet to have someone on who believes in strong borders and national security.

Pope ramps up security for “day of rage”;
Update: Church attacked in Gaza

300 bodyguards at Castel Gandolfo plus another 200+ walking the beat at the Vatican, including its catacombs. And those are just the numbers they’re willing to admit to.

It’s rage day in the Middle East. It always is. Jackie Mason and Raoul Felder say it might be time to hold a rage day of our own:

Who decides that they have the right to convert the world into a courtroom, with the rest of the world’s other religions on trial, with the fate of our lives in their hands, with themselves the self-appointed judge, jury and executioner?

How long will it take for humanity to put an end to this kind of helplessness and cowardice in the face of this inhumane behavior? ...

Audio:
BBC interviews Islamist parasite Abu Izzadeen over Reid incident

Not much going on today in the U.S. but Britain’s still buzzing about Izzadeen’s encounter with John Reid. His nutty conspiracy suggestion aside, Gorgeous George Galloway actually makes a good point — how is it that a notorious jihadi spokesman was able to get so close to Britain’s Home Secretary?

The BBC wrangled an interview with Izzadeen afterwards. Quote: ...

Video: Bush “taken aback”
by report that U.S. threatened Pakistan after 9/11

He’s got to take the “nuanced” approach with the guy standing right next to him, but suffice it to say, it’s doubtful that Richard Armitage of all people was rattling any sabers without explicit instructions to do so.

Anyway, you’re not watching for Bush here. You’re watching for Musharraf’s response, which is priceless. Even heads of state answer to a higher power. ...

Israel says terrorists might be using … armored press vans

So says the director of the government press office. It’s not clear if they have actual intel about this or if it’s conjecture based on the fact that the vehicles sometimes operate outside the areas they’re limited to by their licenses. As for the van that was hit last month:

The vehicle’s presence in Gaza in itself constituted a violation of its license terms, and moreover, the jeep was carrying only Palestinians – one with links to Hamas who was not a Reuters employee. ...

Not Only Our Own Heroes
George Mellinger

How American warriors honor the memories of other brave men, even those who were on the other side.

In 1987, Soviet pilots of the 378 ShAP (Assault Aviation Regiment), based at Bagram and flying the Sukhoi Su-25 Frogfoot, built a memorial to five of their comrades who had fallen in battle. After the Soviets departed, the monument was destroyed. Most recently the remains of the monument was to be cleared for airfield construction, until some American Airmen decided it should be preserved ...

The Pope's Divisions
George Mellinger

Is the pope wrong to imply--in a rather roundabout way--that there is today something amiss inside Islam, as a community of believers sharing one faith and a long, common cultural tradition? ...

It's a small world after all
Zero Ponsdorf

Gene Harrison: New Israeli War Plan Intercepted

[An original work by Gene Harrison, translated from MS Word to HTML by Bill Faith]

Intercepted

New Israeli War Plan intercepted, decrypted and translated.

We have intercepted an order of battle that describes the new Israeli Military War Plan, for implementation on the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashona). The code name for the War Plan is three Hebrew alphabetical symbols: Tet2 Fe Tet. The translation that follows is a descriptive approximation, insofar as our decryption and translation technologies are somewhat limited. Translators notes or other ambiguities are parenthesized. Help was received from contacts in Atlanta.

Frazzled Dog

Ah'm up, but Ah ain't awake. Biting may be light today. Workin' on my third 12 oz. mug of coffee and still fogged in. Quick news scan didn't turn up anythin' that can't wait a while. The store project's takin' a lot of my time, but I think givin' it a high priority will turn out to be the right thing to do. I'm gonna spend some time on store-related stuff before I start blogging, try to hit the important stuff later. Traffic'll suffer some but we ain't gettin' much anyway. Got some good enough stuff coming for the store that I think in the long run it will drive more traffic to the blog than the other way around.

Later.

Hamas Rejects Plan to Recognize Israel, Aide Says

Palestinian official linked to Hamas says it will not join unity government if it must recognize Israel; offers 5 to 10 year truce ...

Hamas rebuffs Abbas on Israel

UNITED NATIONS (CNN) -- The ruling Hamas party will not join any Palestinian unity government that recognizes Israel, according to a spokesman for Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh.

"There will not be a national unity government if Hamas needs to recognize Israel," political adviser Ahmed Youssef said, according to Hamas sources. ...

Bush threatened to bomb Pakistan back to the stone age after 9/11

He’d have done it too, with full-throated support from even most future Lamont voters. Ace finds this terribly shocking and significant for reasons that escape me. What else could he have done? They’d made a giant crematorium in the middle of Manhattan’s financial district. Even Kerry would have reached for the button.

This is old news anyway. The words “back to the stone age” might not have been in circulation before, but the State Department’s “provocative” phone calls to Musharraf in the days after the attack have been public knowledge for years. Mark Steyn wrung an entire column from the subject last month: ...

Gracias, Jimmy!

Jimmy Carter has never met an enemy of the United States that he didn’t want to give a big, wet kiss.

Yeah, he does the noble Habitat for Humanity gig. But the goodness of that is dwarfed by the Habitat for Hugo Jimmy helped restore two years ago.

President Carter will no doubt be on Hugo Chavez’s Christmas card list this December. It was certainly a gift for the Venezuelan leader this year when Mr. Carter certified without reservation an election that opposition newspapers were quick to denounce as a fraud. No sooner had the former American president handed this gift to the Venezuelan Marxist than, as our Eli Lake reported last Thursday, the coalition of labor unions, business groups, and political parties brought forward a list of serious complaints about the process leading up to the elections and how the votes were counted by new electronic machines purchased by the state’s election commission.

Exit polling from the American firm of Penn, Schoen & Berland Associates suggested the inverse of the results Mr. Carter blessed last Monday that showed Mr. Chavez survived the recount referendum by a margin of 59% to 41%.

Video: Daniel Ellsberg urges leaking of Iran war plans on Colbert

Colby’s been a leader of the Resistance since he bombed at the White House correspondents dinner, so while the venue might seem inappropriate, it isn’t. Jeopardizing national security has always been heroic if it undermines the Bushitler, but tonight it actually became hip. Good stuff.

The video speaks for itself. As usual, the applause is the creepiest part.

Baby-makin’ time: Russians given afternoon off to bump uglies

This might explain why so many women on Russian mail-order-bride websites have young children.

…So I hear.

Imagine if Bush sponsored an initiative called “Give birth to a patriot”:

The governor of a Russian province gave workers an afternoon off and told them to go home and multiply in the most direct attempt yet by officials seeking to tackle the country’s growing depopulation crisis…

Palestinian Government To Recognize Israel?

[...]

UPDATE: Allahpundit sends the link to the AFP wire story. Mahmoud Abbas told the UN General Assembly that any new Palestinian government would recognize Israel's right to exist:

Palestinian Authority president Mahmud Abbas told the UN General Assembly that any new Palestinian government would recognise Israel.  ...

Why, Some Of My Best Friends
Are Descended From Pigs And Monkeys!

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad thinks that he has been misunderstood. He told the press covering the United Nations that he doesn't hate Jews at all, and that he actually respects them:

Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said he is not an anti-Semite.

"Jews are respected by everyone, by all human beings," he told a news conference at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

The remarks come months after Mr Ahmadinejad called for Israel to be wiped off the map - and described the Holocaust as "myth". ...

"No, I am not anti-Jew," he said. "I respect them very much."

Of course! Why, many people openly argue for the destruction of Israel and call the Holocaust a conspiracy theory of Jews to control the world through guilt. Some of his best friends are Hebrew ... or would have been, if his country hadn't chased over half of them out after the 1979 revolution.

Deal Reached On Terror Interrogations

The White House reached agreement on language that will allow the CIA and military intelligence to interrogate captured high-value terrorists using techniques proven to work while complying with the Supreme Court's Hamdan mandate to bring all such detentions in compliance with Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions. The agreement allows Republicans to push through the new legislation as a united group and to bridge differences between the Senate and House. It caps a four-day effort to meet three dissenting Republicans in a compromise all could support: ...
