Child slavery in Dubai Michelle Malkin
The issue of children--as young as 2--being kidnapped, sexually abused, and forced to serve as camel jockeys in Dubai has been brewing for years. Even after a ban was heralded by human rights groups last year, the sheiks looked the other way at the practice throughout the UAE. Now, families of kidnapped children have filed a lawsuit to stop the slavery. And Dubai's "progressive" ruling family is named as a top conspirator: Dubai's ruling family has been served with a class-action lawsuit in the United States accusing them of masterminding an international child slave trade to provide jockeys and attendants for the popular desert sport of camel-racing.
Border games
Yes, I know. The House voted to approve a 700-mile fence at the southern border. Press release: Speaker of the House J. Dennis Hastert (R-IL) today issued the following statement after passage of H.R. 6061, Secure Fence Act of 2006. The bill passed 283-138-1 with 131 Democrats voting against the measure. ...
That's all true. But forgive me if I don't break out the pom-poms over this.
The Momentum For Open Government Grows
The House has become the latest showcase for the building momentum for openness and accountability in federal appropriations. New rules for the House that require the listing of all earmark sponsors in the Congressional Record passed by a much wider margin than first thought, 245-171. The rule takes effect immediately and will apply to a wide range of legislation and conference reports, forcing earmarkers to own their pork instead of dodging responsibility for the pork. ...
McCain Supports Rightroots Campaign
The big push has continued this week for the Rightroots campaign, and it has added a rather significant name in support -- Senator John McCain. Patrick Hynes, who works for McCain as well as blogs at Ankle Biting Pundits, reports that the presidential contender wants to use Rightroots to help maintain Republican control of both chambers of Congress. He also includes an entertaining video clip in which McCain uses humor to separate rally attendees from the GOP money that still resides in their wallets. ...
Jew-hating, gay-bashing jihadist cleric warns Pope: Islam means peace Allahpundit
No violence yet, but give it time. It was months after the Mohammed cartoons were published before the first embassy went up in smoke.
For now, the fuming is purely metaphorical, although the head of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood — which gave young Ayman al-Zawahiri his start in fundamentalism — did hint yesterday that insulting the prophet could “trigger wars.” That comes straight from the MB’s English-language website, by the way. You’ll find it tucked in between a fawning interview with Zawahiri’s elderly uncle and a preemptive reminder that “Israel Will Be Responsible For The Next 9/11.” ...
Video: Left-wing nitwits defend Rosie O’Donnell on “Scarborough Country” Allahpundit
This comes to me via my one and only lefty tipster, who told me that watching it made her want to switch parties. With good reason, as you’ll presently see.
Busy Dog
Jean Fraud Kerry's showing his ass again, the Dogs have been howling back and forth at each other all day deciding what to do about it -- We're going to a war footing obviously, just working out the details -- and suddenly my to-do list is hours long again. Got some posts to do that don't really fit the Bill's Bites format, emails to send and answer, and a side project I don't want to say much about till it's too far along to sabotage. I'll try not to let Bill's Bites slide too much but right now it's not my top priority.
Video: Zawahiri threatens France
To paraphrase one of their intellectual icons: they may not be interested in war, but war is interested in them.
Note his appeal to non-Muslims fighting “under [their] own banner.” Anti-Americanism: the tie that binds.

Breaking: Senate committee thwarts Bush on military tribunals
The House Armed Services Committee ratified Bush’s proposal for tribunals yesterday, 52-8, putting the ball squarely in the court of its Senate counterpart. Would Warner, McCain, and Lindsey Graham cave? Or would they hold the line, thereby striking a blow for America’s soul?
The issue was decided this afternoon when our nation’s moral leader finally entered the fray: Former Secretary of State Colin Powell joined top Republican senators to oppose President Bush’s request to reinterpret a Geneva Convention rule in order to allow tougher interrogations of terror suspects…

So now he wants a "dialogue"
Somehow I suspect something was lost in translation here: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Thursday that his country's nuclear standoff with the West can be solved through dialogue, while calling for unspecified "new conditions" in negotiations.
Air America-stiffed charity still waiting for its $875,000
The poor Gloria Wise Boys and Girls Club is still waiting for Air America to pay it back.
Details are buried at the bottom of the New York Sun's story following up on liberal blog Think Progress's claim that Air America will soon file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy: ...
A smear against conservatives blows up in NYTimes' face
If you haven't paid attention to the New York Times' attempt to smear analysts at conservative think tanks who have written in defense of Wal-Mart, all you need to know is on the Times' corrections page today (hat tip- Brian Anderson of City Journal):
"Peace activists" with AK-47s
If you don't know the story behind this photo, you should. Lee Kaplan explains the moonbat-terrorist connection at Front Page:
Dictator in jammies
There are new photos of a recovering Fidel Castro in his silk pajamas. He's preparing for a gathering of fellow tyrants and dictators, which Kofi Annan is scheduled to address tomorrow.
Val at Babalu Blog reports:
Truthermania! CBC explores 9/11 conspiracy theories — on eve of 9/11
Ace has it, although even he doesn’t appreciate the magnitude of the problem. In response to a poll that found 22% of Canadians believe the U.S. government was involved in 9/11, he writes this: My liberal friend still doesn’t believe this is anything but a fringe movement.
22% of an entire Western country is not fringe
Poll: Bush approval rating up to 47%
Eh, whatever. He was at 41 on Monday; three days later he’s at 47, for no apparent reason. The only explanation is a little residual goodwill from memories of 9/11. It’ll blow over.
Who represents CAIR in Congress?
Rarely does a blog post succeed because of how much scrolling you have to do to read it, but this one sure does. Go forth and behold The Difference.
Ace notes Heather Wilson’s presence on the list of Republicans, a fact which should not escape the attention of Hot Air devotees. Also on the list: ...
Video: Maher whines WoT ‘Jam[med] down our throats’, calls WTC site ‘hole in the ground’
HBO funnyman and severe BDS sufferer Bill Maher couldn’t help but gush out vitriolic hate on last night’s edition of Hardball. I put together a little montage of Maher’s quack positions, watch it and weep: ...

Video: Kuwaiti MP has crazy hunch Iran wants nuclear weapons
And also that it might not be Israel that has the most to fear from a nuclear Iran. And that “lonelygirl15″ might just be a cynical ploy for attention by aspiring filmmakers. Click the image to watch.
Breaking: British cops find “terror items” alongside highway?
Not sure what this is all about, but Fox thought it was important enough to simulcast 15 minute of video from Sky News a little while ago.
Ask. Tell. Enlist.
Once again, the issue of gays in the military has arisen during a tough recruiting period and questions about the reserve strength of the armed forces. The New York Times reports that gay-rights groups have seen this situation as a potentially propitious moment to breathe new life into the debate, five years into the war on terror: ...
The Media As Yenta
Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match...
Given the tensions in the world today, one would think that newspapers covering Condoleezza Rice's visit to our northern neighbor might focus on our foreign policy, especially war policy in Afghanistan, where Canadians continue to fight with distinction. Her meeting with Foreign Minister Peter MacKay should have prompted diplomatic inquiries about the softwood lumber dispute or continuing negotiations regarding passport requirements and border security. Instead, prurience trumped professionalism as reporters spent their time wondering how to get these two wonderful kids together, according to the Times of London: ...
Maybe They Should Get A Room
Yesterday, the prosecutor in the trial of Saddam Hussein demanded that the chief judge step down for refusing to stop Saddam from ranting in out-of-order outbursts. The judge demurred, stating that he had no bias towards Saddam and that he merely wanted to ensure that the record showed the defendant received a fair hearing. Today, however, the judge managed to make the prosecutor appear prescient in an exchange that had everything but flowers: ...
Israeli Arabs a 'Fifth Column'?
Israeli Arabs have come under unprecedented criticism in the last few weeks, undermining their political position in the nation. While majorities still see native Arabs as Israelis, growing percentages of Israelis want them to emigrate out of Israel, with even Knesset members expressing hostility towards them. The potential for increasing racism have some politicians worried, especially Israeli Arab MKs. However, as the Jerusalem Post reports, they have done the most damage to their image themselves: ...
Arabs Increasingly See Lebanon As A Loss
At the imposition of the UN Security Council cease-fire resolution, the West almost unanimously considered the war in Lebanon a disaster for Israel. Most analysts insisted that Israel's failure to destroy Hezbollah amounted to a humiliation and worried about the energizing effect Hassan Nasrallah's victory would have on radical Islam's popularity in the region. These analysts would be surprised to learn that Arabs increasingly view Hezbollah's war as a disaster as well -- but a disaster for Arabs: ...
The (Conservative) View Michelle Malkin
Barbara Walters and her gang ain't the only ones who speak for women. Thanks to the miracle of Internet technology (and the wizardry of Bryan Preston), my right-wing gal pal Mary Katharine Ham of Townhall and I talk back to Rosie O'Donnell over her equation of "radical Islam" with the threat of "radical Christianity in America."
Watch:
PhotocoughBucket --- Grrcoughrrr.
Sorry for that spell when it said "We're doing maintenance" where nearly every image on my blog should have been. Over all PhotoBucket's worked out well and I guess I'll have to forgive them for it. They have my only copy of a lot of things on this blog and my old one.

Fall fell and this old dog ended up with a major head cold. Between that and a couple of side projects my posting may be light for a while.
SoCal mayor set to declare sanctuary city for illegal aliens Allahpundit
Federalism, baby. It’s not just for conservatives anymore: Such a classification means city funds will not be used to enforce federal immigration laws, which is already the case in National City.
Marked for death: Pope slams Islam for preaching violence Allahpundit
Just a matter of time now. Nothing brings out the killer in jihadis like accusing them of being killers. Pope Benedict has hit out at Islam and its concept of holy war during a visit to his Bavarian homeland.
Blair assails anti-American "madness"
Tony Blair takes on the America-bashers. Thank you: British Prime Minister Tony Blair launched a withering attack on Thursday on what he called "mad anti-Americanism" among European politicians.
Novak Tees Off On Armitage
The other shoe has dropped in the Armitage-Plame scandal, and I don't mean Valerie Plame's addition of Richard Armitage to her lawsuit. Robert Novak, now free to discuss the sourcing for his infamous column that unmasked Plame as a CIA "operative", says that Armitage has gotten stuck in the spin cycle in his mea culpas over the past two weeks. In facr, far from the inadvertent disclosure between friends that Armitage paints it, Novak explains that the disclosure was quite deliberate: ...
VIDEO: Huffington Says "So What" To Fact That Saddam Persecuted The Kurds (H/T)
Putting aside the fact the Arianna Huffington dubiously implied on tonight's Factor that Bill Buckley and Chris Shays agree with John Murtha about a strategy for Iraq, what was frankly unbelievable was her ignorance and abject indifference towards the plight of the Kurds under Saddam Hussein. Huffington argued that the Kurds were free before we invaded Iraq, that their situation has not changed "one iota" since the invasion, and even replied "so what" to O'Reilly's assertion that Saddam persecuted the Kurds. ...
