The story of the alleged Israeli missile or rocket attack on two Red Cross ambulances was one of Hezbollah's decisive propaganda victories in the recent conflict in Lebanon. It was reported, world-wide, that the Israelis had attacked two Red Cross ambulances that were transporting wounded Lebanese; that rockets or missiles penetrated the roofs of both ambulances; that there were explosions and fires; and that a number of people were injured, including one man whose leg was amputated by a rocket or missile. Many details of the story, however, were reported inconsistently ...

New Ambulance Images May Support Journo's Claim
New images and some older video appear to support at least one defense of The Age in the on going Lebanese Red Cross ambulance story. Though certainly nothing can excuse the otherwise sloppy reporting that went on around a, by definition, International incident.
The Age continues to defend reports of an Israeli air strike on two ambulances in Lebanon, suggesting Zombie Time was analyzing images of the wrong ambulance. ...

Iraqi Authorities: Al Qaeda in Iraq No. 2 Arrested
BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraqi and coalition forces have arrested the second most senior figure in Al Qaeda in Iraq, Iraq's national security adviser announced on Sunday, saying the group now suffered from a "serious leadership crisis."
Hamed Jumaa Farid al-Saeedi, known as Abu Humam or Abu Rana, was captured north of Baghdad a few days ago "along with another group of his aides and followers," Mouwafak al-Rubaie said.
Capture a 'severe blow' to al Qaeda in Iraq
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Al Qaeda's number two operative in Iraq, Hamed Juma Faris al-Suaidi, has been arrested, the U.S. military and Iraq's national security adviser announced Sunday.
Al-Suaidi, also known as Abu Rana and Abu Humam, is said to be No. 2 in the terrorist group al Qaeda in Iraq, behind Abu Ayyub al-Masri.

He also names some enemies. Congrats to Daniel Pipes, Robert Spencer, and Steve Emerson. I can’t think of a higher honor than being vilified by this degenerate. There’s an approving mention, too, of the generals who’ve been criticizing Don Rumsfeld; so much for the theory that Al Qaeda doesn’t pay attention to American media.

Via Reuters: Al Qaeda called on non-Muslims especially in the United States to convert to Islam and abandon their 'misguided' ways or else suffer, according to a video tape posted on a Web site on Saturday.
The speaker was identified as Azzam the American, also known as Adam Yahiye Gadahn -- an Islamic convert from California wanted for questioning by the FBI and who U.S. authorities believe to be involved in an information campaign for al Qaeda.
