Keep up the excellent work. Old War Dogs is one of my favorite reads every day! Posted by: Glenn M. Cassel, AMH1(AW), USN, RET, 1973-1993 | Sep 3, 2006 7:28:29 PM Posted by: theoldman Hey Bill. I was in-country 30Sep69 to 5Jul71 and spent most of my time at Camp Holloway with the 604th Trans Co. (See http://www.604th.com for photos of Holloway and the 604th). Remember the big bull's eye on the hangar? Known as "Rocket Alley", we got hit a couple of times with sappers and light infantry. I didn't get killed either, even though a rocket landed on our barracks. It didn't go off... However, I am the father of a currently serving Marine, and nothing gives me more pride than telling people that my son is a Marine. I just want to say thank you for putting this site on the Net. I come here when I need to anchor myself against the liberalism which runs rampant through my work. When you're one of the support personnel in a professional organization, you don't have the option of telling the partners that they're jackasses, even if they are. This place helps me realize that I'm not the only one in the world who supports the military, active, reserve and retired. A heartfelt thanks to all veterans out there, and (I hope I don't get in trouble for this) Semper Fi! This year, on the eighth of this month, it came to me in huge waves of thought and images and I've been going around the clock since then to get it finished. "The Canyons I Knew Well", is from a New Yorker who is not a native New Yorker...not even FROM New York. I say this because, since the mid-sixties, my profession has found me in NYC many times every year and I do not recall EVER saying "Oh Jesus, I gotta go to New York in the morning." I always visited gladly and worked well there, and I hope this song relects that. I am busy now putting finishing touches on an mpeg4 version of the song to upload tonight. This has been the hardest part - the images I've gleened off the internet to add to the music has been difficult to take - again!..but I think it'll be worth it. You guys and dolls have been kind to me in the past, and if you would, please consider rolling the dice with me again.
