Two more good reasons to help elect Dianna Irey

I'm copying a couple of items from www.irey.com as a reminder why you should go there and donate to the Irey campaign. (Hat tip: Vets4Irey via email) IREY TO MURTHA: WHY DO YOU WANT A CEASE-FIRE WITH PEOPLE WHO MURDERED MARINES?
(MONONGAHELA, August 8) -- Washington County Commissioner and Pennsylvania 12th district Republican Congressional nominee Diana Irey -- responding to Jack Murtha's stated desire for Israel to lay down its arms and stop defending itself against attacks from Marine-murdering Hezbollah terrorists in southern Lebanon -- today released the following statement:
"Last Wednesday, Jack Murtha said he wanted an immediate cease-fire between Israel and Hezbollah.
"That is, he wants Israel to lay down its arms and no longer defend itself against terrorists who have already rained thousands of crude Katyusha rockets down against innocent Jewish settlers.
"This terrorist group is responsible for the murders of more Americans than any terrorist organization other than al-Qaeda.
"This is the same terrorist group responsible for murdering 63 Americans in the bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut in April 1983; the same terrorist group responsible for murdering 241 American Marines by driving a suicide truck bomb into their barracks in Beirut in October 1983; the same terrorist group responsible for kidnapping and torturing CIA Beirut station chief William Francis Buckley for more than a year in 1984-85, before murdering him; and the same terrorist group responsible for kidnapping and torturing to death Marine Colonel William Higgins in July 1990.
"This terrorist group has as its stated mission the destruction of the state of Israel.
"They should not be negotiated with, they should be exterminated.
"Why in the WORLD would Jack Murtha want Israel to lay down its arms and parlay for peace with this group?
"The good news is, there are 91 days left in this campaign, and that's plenty of time to make sure the voters of the 12th District know just who Jack Murtha really is."
Because We Don't Know, Jack ... *
On Wednesday of last week, Jack Murtha's office put out a press release responding to the filing of a defamation lawsuit against him by Staff Sergeant Frank D. Wuterich.
In Jack Murtha's original response, Frank Wuterich was identified as "a Marine staff sergeant charged at Haditha" -- despite the fact that no one has yet been charged for anything that happened at Haditha.
Within a few hours, Jack Murtha's congressional web site had a new version of the press release posted, without the offensive (and false) language. But no mention was made of the fact that the new press release was a revision of an earlier, incorrect release.
Luckily, the Observer-Reporter caught it, and had this to say:
A news release from Murtha's office received in our newsroom Wednesday called the plaintiff "a Marine Corps staff sergeant charged in the incident at Haditha." The fact is that, while the initial Pentagon investigation reportedly supports the general accusation, nobody has been charged in the case.
When we double-checked Murtha's Web site on Thursday, the first sentence of the news release had been re-written to remove the word "charged." The original claim had been dropped down the memory hole without explanation.
This is at least the second time in recent months that Jack Murtha's congressional web site has changed and re-posted a press release without noting the revision - on June 27th, the congressional web site had posted to it a press release demanding a correction from media outlets because Mr. Murtha had been "quoted out of context." Intriguingly, that same press release sits there today, with a fascinating addition: the release now includes information from something that happened ON JUNE 28 -- EVEN THOUGH THE RELEASE IS STILL DATED JUNE 27!
Obviously, someone in Jack Murtha's office -- maybe Jack Murtha himself? -- has recently been reading George Orwell's classic, "1984," in which history is erased by simply cutting out offensive statements and dropping them down the "memory hole."
Today's question for Jack Murtha:
Why do you continue to refuse to accept responsibility for your continued misstatements of fact, when so many of your troubles could go away if you would simply own up to your penchant for shooting from the lip, acknowledge your misstatements as such, and apologize?
*An ongoing investigation of Jack Murtha, brought to you by Diana Irey for Congress.
