JPost: Kidnapped soldiers may have received treatment in Baalbek

The IDF commando raid in Baalbek was carried out based upon the assessment that the two kidnapped soldiers, Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, were treated at the Hizbullah-controled hospital shortly after their capture.

The hospital in Baalbek, as other Hizbullah medical facilities around Lebanon, serves the local Shi'ite community and in addition has underground bunkers for the movement's purposes. It is believed that the two soldiers were held in these bunkers before being moved along.

Referring to the late Tuesday commando operation, Halutz said that a special elite military force had operated near the Baalbek neighborhood, killing at least 10 Hizbullah guerrillas and taking another five captive.

Halutz said that Baalbek was where most of the Hizbullah leaders lived and where the terror organization had a remote logistics base.
