Iraqi divisions halfway there Contributed by Bill Faith

Greetings,
I started to translate similar articles written in many Iraqi papers when I realized that the Multi National Force web sight had also reported on this in English. In Iraq this is very big news...

My comments,
Progress in Iraq is measurable and evident. The Iraqi Prime-Minister Al-Maliki announced that more armed groups have expressed interest in joining the political process and a number of militia leaders have sworn on the Koran not to spill any Iraqi blood. There is plenty evidence that most terrorist attacks are either carried out by Alqaida type groups with Baathist help or with Baathist groups with Alqaida help. these two groups (Alqaida & Baathists) are responsible for most of the bombings and sabotage Iraq is experiencing. Sectarian violence (most of which is in Baghdad and surrounding area) has slowed down and hope fully will reach a trickle. This is because the increase deployment of U.S. and Iraqi troops in the Baghdad area, with the Al-Maliki promising neighborhood by neighborhood patrols. Iraqi media has been reporting on the statements of General Abu Zaid that civil war is a possibility. The response to this statement by Iraqi news columns, article and lecture after Friday prayers (by Shiite & Sunni mosques) is that Iraqis are doubling their effort to prove him wrong. They will not let Iraq fall into civil war.
