Yellowcake? Not that again!

Laurie Mylroie, a Mideast scholar and media gadfly whose capsule bio follows from the link at left, has been dubbed "The Neo-Cons' favorite conspiracy theorist" by none other than CNN's Peter Bergen.  To what higher laurel could any Laurie aspire?  One of her specialties is injecting new life into stories buried under a slag-heap of snark, distortion, and even outright lies by the media that calls itself "mainstream."  The latest effort is her newsletter release entitled "Christopher Hitchens, Niger, and Yellowcake,"  which reproduces a long article by Hitchens in Slate.  The Hitchens piece set off a nuclear blast of vilification by that fraction of the moonbat community suffiicently literate to read it, though not necessarily able to comprehend it.  Mr. Hitchens, an expensively educated Brit, does not write at the fifth grade level.

Given that the Niger-yellowcake story has been hashed over ad nauseam, one might reasonably feel a certain reluctance to wade through yet another version.  That would be a sad mistake.  Hitchens casts a new light on the subject, from sources that are uniquely his. In  particular, he quotes from a personal communication from  Rolf Ekeus, who headed UNSCOM just after the Gulf War.  His energy and talent were sorely missed when, as Hitchens points out, Russia and France barred him from being reappointed.  That's how we got "Baghdad Bob" Blix instead.  The Ekeus letter establishes beyond cavil that the special commercial mission that Saddam sent to Niger was not looking for goat hides to make kidskin gloves for his officers.

Every day, we continue to get backlash from the administration's foolish capitulation to the media campaign against the famous 16 words. "Bush lied, people died" has been poisoning the atmosphere ever since.  There is still ample justification for re-examining the issue.  Hitchens has done our homework for us.  Don't miss out.  Go take advantage of his diligence.  As lagniappe, you get ample proof that Valerie and Joe were the perps, not the victims, of the Plame affair.

John,

This is still an excellent topic. And we need to continue beating this dead horse for one very good reason; No matter where the truth lies, the left has done an excellent job of making people believe that the Wilson/Plame affair was an underhanded act of retribution by Rove, Cheney and Libby. The vast multitudes never read, see or hear the real story, they just remember the loudest cries of the leftist fanatics. The Bush administration and the, (ahem) Republican leadership have done a terrible job for 5 1/2 years in presenting their case. The main stream media will never print the truth and even the reliable FNC or Wall Street Journal will not give this story much attention. Good choice. Thanks

The horse is not dead so long as idiots continue trying to ride it.
