The Warrior Fund -- Scam or Victim? (Updated, bumped)
Contributed by Bill Faith Frequent visitors may notice that I've taken a button linking to The Warrior Fund off our sidebar. Folks, at this point we don't know what's going on and we don't believe in convicting anyone till all the evidence is in, be it Marines or people purportedly trying to help them. We do know that something shady's going on, but we aren't sure who the perpetrators or victims are at this point. It may be as simple as a lefty computer hack on a perfectly legitimate patriotic web site, or some of the Old War Dogs may have gotten sucked in by a scam. We have contacts within some pretty active wannabe-chasing networks who are checking out some of the names involved and will let us know what they find out. For the immediate future, we cannot in good conscience recommend donating to The Warrior Fund. Even if the fund is legitimate, we have cause to think your online donations might not reach their intended destination. We'll keep you posted as we learn more. Update: We still have parallel investigations running but if I had to place my bet right now I'd say The Warrior Fund is legitimate and there are lefty hackers at play. I still wouldn't hit their PayPal button till we're sure the money isn't being diverted and I'd wait a day or two to snail-mail any checks. Watch this site for news. Update 2: Click and . |
