Old War Dogs goes international!
Contributed by George Mellinger I had planned to write about Russia eventually. During the last twelve years I have gained several close Russian friends who share my interests in aviation history, and in scale model building. But on occasion, we also speak of other important things about our countries. Such contacts do allow us to learn more about each other's countries, and the matters which concern them. I have learned to surf at least some of the Russian Internet sites, and maintain contact with my friends via e-mail. Yesterday morning I sent my friend Randalf an invitation to come and visit our new kennel. (That is not his real name, but I'll call him by his screen name.) Sometimes Randalf inserts a Cyrillic word which does not come through readable in my email, and sometimes his English is as broken as my Russian. But we understand. This morning I received an email message. I share a part of it in Randalf's own words:
I also told him about the plans for the union of American, Mexico, and Canada under the SPP.
And so an ordinary Russian citizen understands this issue better than our President and our senators.
He also has some choice words to say about his own president. I asked about the incident when Vladimir Vladimirovich (a proper way to address Putin) kissed the little boy's stomach on Red Square, wondering if maybe this were some old Russian folk custom. In response he tells me
And he related that Putin was publicly questioned about this in an on-line Internet conference and gave a reply which had absolutely nothing to do with the question.

Posted by: Bill Faith | Jul 8, 2006 9:57:23 AM Posted by: John Werntz Congratulations, Rurik. Randalf may be the Dogs' sole friend in Europe, but the USA actually has lots of friends in France, most notably the Dissident Frogman. Frogman posted a lovely tribute to the USA on July 4. Well worth a read, everybody. Go here-- http://www.thedissidentfrogman.com/dacha/001592.html If I weren't so lame, and knew how trackbacks work, we might very well find ourselves on the Frogman's blogroll. Not to mention No Pasaran! the 2nd most widely read pro_US blog in Euroland. Posted by: John Werntz | Jul 8, 2006 2:07:02 PM Post a comment Comments accept simple HTML for formatting and linking.
