O Frabjous Day!
Contributed by John Werntz

This coming Monday, July of 2006 will retreat into history, and August is just around the corner.  Why is this cause for rejoicing?  A press release from the House, reproduced by the Club for Growth, contains a phrase that is balm to the human spirit: "...our August district work period..."  Translated into English: "We're taking the entire month of August off."

Savor it. A whole month relatively free of partisan sniping, bipartisan raids on the Treasury, lies, howling about imaginary wrongs that only we Solons can cure, desperately elbowing Chuck Schumer in a vain attempt to seize a moment before the cameras, Murtha's geriatric rants reported only in the local Hicksburg weeklies... freedom, hey?  Enjoy it while it lasts.

Hat Tip to Baron Bodissey.  Apologies to Rurik. :-)
